In an exclusive interview with FastestPayoutOnlineCasino.com, ex-Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy says that Darwin Nunez must improve next season, but the Reds would be “crazy” to let him leave.

  • Darwin Nunez must improve, but Liverpool have to keep hold of him
  • Federico Chiesa could never replace Mo Salah’s goalscoring threat
  • Arne Slot key to Virgil Van Dijk staying at Anfield

Darwin Nunez Told He Needs to Improve By 15% Next Season

Darwin Nunez’s finishing has left Liverpool fans frustrated at times since he arrived at the club in 2022. His record of 33 goals in 96 games is respectable but Danny Murphy thinks he can improve and Liverpool would be mad to let him leave;

Danny Murphy: “I think it would be crazy to let [Darwin Nunez] go. I think he’s got more to come. Brilliant physically, he never lets himself get down or his head drop, which is a wonderful attribute. He’s a nightmare to play against because he always gets in. He can out jump you, he can outrun you. If you’re the manager coming in and deciding to bring in your own striker, you’re going to do really well to find one better. And he has got room to improve. He doesn’t need to become Haaland. He just needs to improve a little bit, 15%, and all of a sudden you’ve got a hell of a player.”

‘World beater’ Federico Chiesa Won’t Replace Mo Salah’s Goals

Liverpool have been linked with a summer move for Juventus winger Federico Chiesa and while Murphy is a fan of the Italy international, he can’t see him coming close to scoring the amount of goals that Mohamed Salah has done in a Reds shirt;

Danny Murphy: “Chiesa had that really bad injury a couple of years ago and just before then he was looking like a world beater with his pace and his directness coming off that right side. He can play off the left, but coming off that right side, he is a talent. But there’s a lot of good forward players out there. I think Liverpool will have a plan in place but it doesn’t matter who you replace Salah with. There won’t be anybody else in world football that I can think of who could come in and score the goals Salah does. So you’d be looking at bringing someone in who can score goals, but you’re not going to get the same numbers as Salah.”

Arne Slot Key Factor in Van Dijk Resisting Real Madrid Transfer

Virgil Van Dijk has been a rock at the back for Liverpool in his seven seasons at the club but fans are concerned he’s looking for a new challenge. Murphy is hopeful VVD will stay and he reckons Arne Slot also being Dutch could help keep him at Anfield;

Danny Murphy: “If Real Madrid were to come calling, then you’re always worried about any player. If Real Madrid want someone, they generally do end up going, which is a concern. But they seem to have put their eggs in other baskets, financially this season. I think it will definitely help having a Dutch manager. If you’re bringing in a manager who’s of the same nationality it makes life easier. I’m not suggesting that’s the only reason [Van Dijk] would stay, but I think he’s happy at Liverpool. He’s loved. He’s adored and as long as he feels they could be competitive. But the Real Madrid issue is always there for every player.”
